Salt and Light is a body of work that draws on the effects of climate change and investigates the degrading landscapes and ecologies. The series was conceived in 2018 as an exhibition of the same title to create a visual discourse on climate change and a space for reflection on possible solutions. This experience became the catalyst for the series’ continuation.
In this body of work, I have sought to move away from employing a language that is scientific and often complex to understand; instead, I rely on the power of visuals to invoke lateral thinking and holistic solutions to environmental crises. The resulting work is informed by various experimental approaches such as encompassing darkroom test prints, mixed recycled media, recycling found images and other environmentally responsible processes that aim to highlight the degrading landscape.
