‘Cornucopia’ (horn of plenty) is an artistic research on the Lassithi plateau’s elusive identity. Lassithi plateau, situated at 840m ASL on the island of Crete, is a natural fortress with particularly fertile land surrounded by mountains. First inhabited during the Neolithic age, it became a significant cult place of the Minoan civilization. This rich land has nourished the inhabitants of Crete for centuries. According to myths, it is the same land where Zeus was born in one of it’s caves, and also considered to be Europa's bridal bed.
Being part of a continent that gallops towards an unknown future, this work investigates the contemporary imagery of a lost link that is part of the core mythology of Europe, implying the possibility of the existence of a place's resilient identity. An identity that can be found only on the verge of the imaginary.
